The Houston Astros topped the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-1, in National League action at Minute Maid Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Houston pitcher Cliff Lee. The win puts the Astros at 20-28, while the Cardinals drop to 25-24.

Emmanuel Rivera had a big run-scoring double for the Astros in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Houston leading 2-1 and a runner on 3rd, he got a sinker from Zach Davies, who leads the NL in quality starts with 8, and swatted a double to left. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Astros ahead, 3-1.

"Cliff throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Houston manager Claybor Finley.
