Yankees Win Nail-Biter in 11
|
Despite a great performance by Cleveland first baseman Matt Reynolds, the New York (A) Yankees defeated the Guardians by the score of 6-5 in 11 innings at Yankee Stadium. Reynolds hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. New York (A) reliever Robert Garcia snagged the win, upping his record to 1-1. Lee Griffeth shouldered the loss. New York (A), at 22-23, occupies 5th place in the American League.
The Yankees got a clutch hit from left fielder Ben Francisco. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Yankees.
"It was a test of wills," said Brett Fogerson, the New York (A) skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
