Mariners Rally to Nose Past Texas
|
Starting pitcher Red Witt gave the Seattle Mariners a rock-solid performance, helping them defeat the Texas Rangers, 3-2, in 10 innings. Seattle raised its record to 24-22 with the win.
The decisive blow was delivered by Hubie Brooks in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 32-year old left-handed pitcher Buddy Groom to win the game for Seattle. The home crowd went nuts.
"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Seattle field general Tyler Jorgensen.
