Glenn Hoffman did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Cleveland Guardians from being beaten, 4-3, to the Boston Red Sox at League Park. Hoffman was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. Boston is now 21-23. Cleveland is 15-28.
Tommy Brown came through with a big-time hit for Boston. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
After the game, Boston manager Doug Morton applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
