San Francisco Edges Arizona, 5-4
|
Arizona third baseman Geronimo Pena had a good game, even if his team did not. The Diamondbacks dropped a 5-4 decision to San Francisco at Eclipse Park. Pena was 1-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. San Francisco pitcher Phil Ortega got the win, upping his record to 5-3. Blake Snell got the loss. Garrett Olson closed the door for San Francisco, picking up his 9th save of the year.
The Giants got a big at-bat from left fielder Joe Lefebvre. For the game, Lefebvre was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 3-0 lead.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Lefebvre. "You've got to get results."
The setback makes Arizona 25-15.
