Phillies 3-1 Victors Over Miami
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins, pitcher Joe Coleman was the difference between victory and defeat. The Philadelphia right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Phillies win. Coleman got the win, improving to 3-4. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. Ken Howell, the 11th overall pick in the 1999 draft, nailed down the save.
Mark Salas came through with a big-time hit for Philadelphia. The catcher smacked a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Coleman.
The defeat makes Miami 15-23.
