Mariners, Brown Pin Bad Loss on Rangers
The Seattle Mariners had no problem beating the Texas Rangers, 11-2, at Globe Life Field. Chris Brown, who finished 3rd in the AL in doubles with 55 in 1998, led the onslaught. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for Seattle. Seattle, now 3-1, is setting the league on fire so far.

Glenn Wright had a big 3-run home run for the Mariners in the top of the second inning. With Seattle leading 4-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a changeup from Foster Edwards, who led the NL in ERA with 2.43 in 1987, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Mariners on top, 7-1.

"We can't expect to win," said Texas manager Kyle Shea, "when we play like that."
