|
Miami got a valiant performance from pitcher Steve McCatty, but it wasn't enough to beat the Colorado Rockies. Colorado won the game, 6-5. McCatty threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Colorado reliever Jarlín García picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Buck Farmer was saddled with the loss. Terrell Wade collected his 5th save.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Hank Majeski came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Miami pitcher Buck Farmer, he hit a 1-2 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Colorado on top, 6-5.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Majeski told the Colorado Daily.
The Rockies improved their record to 17-18 by beating Miami.
