The New York (N) Mets started the World Series in style, downing the visiting Milwaukee Brewers at Shea Stadium by a score of 9-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Mets left-hander Carl Hubbell threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball.
