Raucous Shea Stadium Crowd Propels Mets to 5-3 Victory; Series Tied at 3
The New York (N) Mets and the Chicago (N) Cubs will take the League Championship Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Mets beat the Cubs, 5-3, at Shea Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. New York (N) right-hander Ray Bare had a big role in the win. He threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball.

New York (N) right fielder Frank Robinson helped the Mets go up, 3-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Robinson hit a 2-run triple off Chicago (N) pitcher Dean Chance.

Robinson told a New York (N) Daily reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Shea Stadium in New York.
