Drysdale Sensational for Mets
|
New York (N) used a superb performance from starting pitcher Don Drysdale to down the Houston Astros, 3-1. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Bill Gogolewski. Houston's current losing streak is now 4 games.
The standout performance belonged to 19-year-old Drysdale. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Mets. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Astros, striking out 7 and scattering 3 hits over 8 innings. Drysdale is now 3-0 on the season.
"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Drysdale.
