The Milwaukee Brewers got a strong performance from pitcher Tom Brewer, who stymied the visiting Chicago (A) White Sox en route to a win, 8-3, in Game 2 of the Divisional Series. The White Sox could never get a bead on the right-handed Brewer, who threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The Brewers now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.

Milwaukee center fielder Dale Murphy helped the Brewers go up, 4-3, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Murphy hit a run-scoring single off Chicago (A) pitcher Luke Jackson.

"Tom giving us the start that he did was huge," said Milwaukee manager Mike Ejercito.

Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Comiskey Park.
