Seattle Loss Tarnishes Wright Performance
The New York (A) Yankees had to overcome a big game from Seattle shortstop Glenn Wright to leave Yankee Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 9-7. Wright slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Rich Nye earned the win for New York (A). He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 7 runs on 11 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 3-2. The win puts New York (A) at 17-14.

The Mariners had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Yankees going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the reigning Most Valuable Player Award winner Barney McCosky came to the plate. McCosky hit a 3-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Seattle hurler Andy Benes. It was McCosky's 1st home run of the year.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Brett Fogerson said.
