Phillies Win, White reaches base 3 times
|
The Philadelphia Phillies topped the San Francisco Giants, 10-5, at Veterans Stadium. Philadelphia first baseman Frank White was a spark plug for the offense. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. With the loss, San Francisco is 16-17.
Mark Salas had a big grand slam home run for the Phillies in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Philadelphia leading 6-5 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Adbert Alzolay and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Phillies on top, 10-5.
"Every manager loves to see an offensive outburst from his team," said Philadelphia skipper Jason Spiegel.
