The Texas Rangers handed the Miami Marlins a 5-3 defeat at Globe Life Field. Second Baseman Luis Castillo starred for Texas. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2. The Marlins fall to 13-18 and continue their uneven start to the 2000 season.

Ciudad Guayana, Venezuela-born Eugenio Suárez came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Rangers trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Texas on top.
