Miami and Texas duked it out and the Marlins came out victorious.

Texas left fielder Billy Williams was sensational. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Miami beat the Rangers, 9-7. Bill Scherrer earned the save, his 7th.

Miami shortstop Len Schulte contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 20th hit of the season and put the Marlins ahead, 7-3.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Miami skipper Bobby K.

With the loss, Texas falls to 12-19.
