Close Win Moves Expos to 14-15
|
The Montreal Expos cut down the Minnesota Twins by the score of 4-3, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder John Hale. Hale belted 2 home runs for the Expos. Pat Caraway, the winner, goes to 5-0. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts over 7 innings. Rex Brothers earned the save, his 3rd.
Johnny Peacock had a direct impact on the outcome. Peacock contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Montreal up, 4-2.
"Bottom line," said Minnesota skipper Dan Hornbaker, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The Twins, 13-17, continue their sluggish start to the 2000 campaign.
