Slumping White Sox Lose 8th Straight
The New York (N) Mets picked up a win at Shea Stadium, knocking off the Chicago (A) White Sox, 4-3. Starting pitcher Don Drysdale played a key role in the triumph. New York (N) reliever Bill Gogolewski picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Luke Jackson took the loss. Chicago (A) falls to 15-15.

Darren Lewis was the walk-off hero for New York (N). With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mets center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Lewis told the New York (N) Daily. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
