St. Louis Cardinals starter Kyle Gibson turned in a top-notch performance against the New York (A) Yankees at Busch Stadium. The result was a win for the Cardinals, 5-2. Gibson picked up the win for St. Louis, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 4-0. Vince Colbert earned the save, his 10th.

St. Louis right fielder Matt Kemp contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 30th hit of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 5-2.

"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Gibson said.
