Expos Win, 8-2, at Cleveland
|
At League Park, the Cleveland Guardians and Montreal Expos were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 28-year old left fielder John Hale, the Montreal Expos defeated the Cleveland Guardians, 8-2. Doug McWeeny, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-1. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 4 innings.
A key moment came with no one out in the top of the third. That's when Hale hit a changeup from Milt Gaston for a 2-run single, putting Montreal up, 2-0.
"The effort wasn't good enough," said losing manager Kevin Conway.
Cleveland, now 6-22, continues its tough start.
