Brewers Drop Astros, 6-5
|
The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Houston Astros, 6-5, in part because of right fielder Johnny Grubb. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Pete Smith, now 3-0, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. The Brewers raised their record to 18-10.
The Brewers benefited from a costly error in the top of the seventh. With Gary DiSarcina at bat and Milwaukee leading 4-3, the Houston miscue allowed Milwaukee to plate 2 and take the lead, 6-3.
"It all comes down to competing and our guys love to compete," said Brewers manager Mike Ejercito.
