Simmons Reaches 2000 Milestone
|
Al Simmons was bubbling over with joy, celebrating his 2000th hit in the Seattle 3-2 victory over the Astros at Minute Maid Park.
"I learned what hard work, focus, dedication, and opportunity can do. This is how it pays off."
The 30-year-old left fielder achieved that milestone with 2 hits in 5 at-bats to join the exclusive 2000-hit club.
His manager said, "Al plays the same every day and every inning -- with all his heart. That's why he's such a special player."
Simmons's career batting average is .328. In 1526 games, he has gotten 2001 hits, 311 home runs, 967 RBIs and scored 1118 runs.
