Behind the hitting of Jose Canseco, the Colorado Rockies defeated the New York (A) Yankees, 8-4. Canseco was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Rockies. Colorado reliever Alex Carrasquel picked up the win to move to 2-1. Jack Sanford suffered the loss. The loss drops New York (A) to 14-11.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Rockies grabbed the lead when Canseco hit his 7th home run of the season. The 3-run home run off Jack Sanford made it 5-4, Colorado .
