Cleveland left fielder Cory Sullivan had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Sullivan slugged 2 home runs, even as Seattle beat the Guardians, 7-4. The winning pitcher was five-time All-Star Red Witt. He tossed 92 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. Now 4-19, the 2000 Guardians have sputtered in the early going.

Chris Brown did the little things right to help the team for Seattle. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring strikeout off Milt Gaston. It was his 13th RBI of the season.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Brown.
