Red Sox Upend Mariners, 4-3
|
The Boston Red Sox downed the Seattle Mariners, 4-3, at Rogers Centre. Bobby Higginson led the way, going 2-for-3 for Boston. Luke Weaver picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-1. He struck out 5 in 7 innings. Greg Bollo earned the save, his 6th.
Hal Wagner came through with a big-time hit for Boston. The catcher smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I just try to bring what I bring to this team," said Wagner.
The loss puts Seattle at 12-9.
