Bochte Rips 2 Homers in 7-2 Win
|
No one was more impactful than Bruce Bochte in the 7-2 Detroit win over Minnesota. Bochte slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5. Joey Hamilton, the winning pitcher, is now 1-3. He went 9 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 1. The Twins fall to 8-12 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2000 season.
With Detroit leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Bochte hit a slider from La Marr Hoyt for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Tigers ahead, 4-0.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Bochte. "You've got to get results."
