Yankees, Francisco Pin Bad Loss on Orioles
|
The New York (A) Yankees scored a convincing win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, defeating the Baltimore Orioles, 11-2. One of the hitting stars was Ben Francisco, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2000 draft, who slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Kevin Ritz was the winner. He's now 1-3. The loser was 29-year old right-handed pitcher Lou Fette. The Orioles fall to 6-10 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2000 season.
New York (A) used the hitting of Jorge Alfaro to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Yankees on top, 4-2. For the game, Alfaro had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Said losing manager Andre Ivarsson: "At the end of the day, we've got to play better."
