Diamondbacks Lose, 2-1, at Minute Maid Park
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Houston Astros and the Arizona Diamondbacks, Jose Lima, the 18th overall pick in the 1994 draft, was the difference-maker. The Houston right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Lima yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 6, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-1. Robert Carson earned the save for Houston, his 4th of the year.
The Diamondbacks had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Astros going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old left fielder Wally Roettger came to the plate. Roettger hit a 2-run double on a first pitch curveball from Arizona hurler Matt Young. It was Roettger's 1st double of the year.
"Jose pitched his heart out," said Houston manager Claybor Finley.
Houston is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 6th win in 17 games.
