New York (N) Absorbs 9-7 Loss to St. Louis
|
Byron Browne added some punch to the St. Louis offense, helping them outmuscle the New York (N) Mets, 9-7. In the game, Browne, who finished 2nd in the AL in triples with 11 in 1995, was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Vince Colbert converted his 27th save in 33 tries. St. Louis is now 67-93, New York (N) 110-50.
With St. Louis trailing 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth, Browne hit a slider from Salome Barojas for a 3-run home run. It was his 28th home run of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 8-6.
"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Browne. "I think we showed that here."
