7-2 Win Gets Chicago (N) to 96-60
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Chicago (N) Cubs and Boston Red Sox.
The Chicago (N) Cubs earned a win at Fenway Park, knocking off the Boston Red Sox, 7-2. On the bump for Chicago (N) was left-hander Tommy Milone. He had a starring role in the triumph. Milone, the winner, moves to 18-6. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. Earning the save was Mike Paul. He's now cashed in 26 of 30 save opportunities.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Matt Williams? The Chicago (N) shortstop had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Cubs on top, 1-0. For the game, Williams had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Chicago (N) skipper Matt Ida.
After today's action, Chicago (N) sits at 96-60; Boston slips to 68-88.
