Extra-Inning Win by Twins Over Giants
|
Eclipse Park was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
The Minnesota Twins racked up a win at Eclipse Park, bumping off the San Francisco Giants, 2-1, in 10 innings. Rick Rhoden, who started for Minnesota, pitched effectively for his team. Brusdar Graterol, who is tied for 3rd in the AL in saves with 33, earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 4-5.
Norm Siebern, who is tied for 3rd in the AL in bases on balls with 93, had a direct impact on the outcome. Siebern contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Minnesota up, 2-1.
Siebern told a Minnesota Times reporter that he felt "ecstatic" after the win.
Minnesota, at 77-75, holds down 5th place in the American League.
