The first-place New York (N) Mets took on the Baltimore Orioles in front of a spirited crowd.

The New York (N) Mets picked up a win at Shea Stadium, downing the Baltimore Orioles, 7-6. On the mound for New York (N) was right-hander Don Drysdale, who played a pivotal role in the win. Carl Bouldin recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 2 for 4.

New York (N) took a 7-6 lead on Walt Williams's 16th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Williams hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Baltimore pitcher Jonny Venters visibly frustrated.

"It's great to be on a roll," said Williams.
