Mets Rack Up 7-4 Win Versus Philadelphia
|
The New York (N) Mets knocked off the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-4, at Shea Stadium. Billy Werber was a big reason New York (N) won. The second baseman went 2-3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Bill Gogolewski nailed down his 5th save. New York (N), now 6-9, is off to a slow start.
With New York (N) leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Werber hit a changeup from Joe Coleman for a solo home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Mets ahead, 2-0.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Werber. "You've got to get results."
