Rangers Thrash Red Sox, 13-1
|
At Globe Life Field, the Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Texas Rangers put together a convincing win at Globe Life Field, defeating the Boston Red Sox, 13-1. Ray Webster was one of the hitting stars. He went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for Texas. The winner was Buddy Groom, who threw 88 pitches over 6.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 7 hits.
Texas center fielder Eric Davis contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a slider to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 116th hit of the season and put the Rangers ahead, 3-1.
"We were able to put some runs on the board," said Webster after the game.
Texas, with the win, climbs to 52-97.
