Oral Hildebrand, who is tied for 6th in the AL with a 3.75 ERA, had a strong outing for the Cleveland Guardians against the Seattle Mariners at League Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Reliever Hayden Wesneski picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Logan Gilbert, who is tied for 6th in the AL with a 7.2 K/9 rate, took the loss. Camilo Doval was credited with the save for Cleveland, his 16th of the season.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Glenn Hoffman came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Seattle pitcher Logan Gilbert, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Cleveland on top, 5-3.

Hoffman called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
