In a tension-filled contest between the Montreal Expos and the Arizona Diamondbacks, pitcher Pat Caraway was superb. The Montreal left-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in quality starts with 19, spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. With the win, Montreal upped its record to 74-71.
The Expos got a clutch hit from right fielder John Hale. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Expos.
"Pat pitched like a champ," said Montreal manager Marwan Najdawi.
