Astros Win 1-0 Walk-Off
|
Frank Baumann pitched well, but the Arizona Diamondbacks still lost the game, falling, 1-0, to the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. The winner was Houston reliever David Carpenter, now 4-9. The loser was Frank Baumann. Houston is now 53-87, Arizona 85-55.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Houston left fielder Carl Reynolds, facing Dave Veres, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Astros the 1-0 win.
"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Reynolds said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
