Orioles Sunk by Expos
|
The Montreal Expos extended their winning streak.
Paul Janish was a vital contributor to the 10-2 Montreal victory over Baltimore. The Expos third baseman went 3 for 4 with 3 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Pat Caraway went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. The left-hander struck out 5 and walked 3. With the win, he ups his record to 2-0 this season.
George Shuba, who finished 3rd in the NL in extra base hits with 68 in 1985, chipped in a run-scoring single for Montreal in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 runs batted in.
"Not much to say," Baltimore manager Andre Ivarsson said, when asked afterward about the defeat.
For the Orioles, the loss makes them 5-8.
