Cardinals Rally to Nose Past Houston
|
St. Louis beat Houston at Busch Stadium, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Willie Horton. He went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. St. Louis reliever Vince Colbert got the win, raising his record to 6-7. Bob Kline was tagged with the loss. Houston is in the throes of a long losing streak, which is now 11 games.
Byron Browne was the walk-off hero for St. Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cardinals right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"That's what this team is about," said Browne, "picking each other up."
