The Philadelphia Phillies weathered an outstanding game by Colorado first baseman Kendrys Morales to topple the Rockies, 15-14. Morales went 6 for 7 with a home run, 3 doubles, and 2 singles, while scoring 4 and driving in 6. The winner was Philadelphia reliever Anthony Swarzak, now 4-9. The loser was Allan Simpson. With the win, Philadelphia upped its record to 71-55.

The Phillies got a clutch hit from left fielder Gabe Kapler. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Phillies.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Kapler. "I like it."
