Guardians Score Late, Topple Red Sox, 8-6
|
Skip Schumaker had a good game, but he could not keep the Boston Red Sox from falling, 8-6, to the Cleveland Guardians at Fenway Park. The Boston right fielder went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once in the loss. Don Kaiser earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 3-6. The victory puts Cleveland at 48-77.
Clay Dalrymple delivered a big hit for Cleveland. The catcher drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Guardians ahead, 7-6. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Dalrymple told the Cleveland Today.
