Guardians Win at Home, 7-4
|
The Cleveland Guardians picked up a win at League Park, taking down the Detroit Tigers, 7-4. Starting pitcher David Wells was a big reason why. Wells picked up the win for Cleveland, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 9-10. The defeat makes Detroit 63-55.
Matt Reynolds had a big 2-run home run for the Guardians in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cleveland leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Hiroki Kuroda, who is tied for 7th in the AL in wins with 10, and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Guardians on top, 3-0.
"I thought we competed really well," said Guardians manager Kevin Conway. "I thought the energy was really good."
