Alfaro Swings Yankees to 6-4 Win
|
The New York (A) Yankees dealt the Seattle Mariners a 6-4 loss at Rogers Centre. Jorge Alfaro, who is tied for 3rd in the AL with a .317 batting average, was the star on offense. He went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Picking up the win was Kevin Ritz. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. The right--hander struck out 5 and walked 2. New York (A), at 55-62, holds down 6th place in the American League.
With New York (A) leading 3-0 in the top of the second, Alfaro hit a fastball from Dustin Hermanson for a 2-run double. It was his 16th double of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 5-0.
