Philadelphia Sends Texas Packing with 4-2 Loss
|
Philadelphia Phillies starter Tommy Boggs found his groove in his team's 4-2 win over the Texas Rangers. Boggs got the win, improving to 13-8. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Joel Zumaya earned the save for Philadelphia, his 1st.
The Phillies got a big hit from catcher Mark Salas. Facing Texas pitcher Mark Leiter Jr. in the bottom of the sixth, Salas pounded a 2-run double to left. His 18th double of the season put the Phillies ahead, 4-1.
Philadelphia manager Jason Spiegel commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
