On Road, New York (N) Drops Chicago (A), 9-1
|
Chicago (A) got a big-time effort from pitcher Kevin Appier, but it wasn't enough to keep the New York (N) Mets from winning the game, 9-1. Appier threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Ray Bare got the win, improving to 9-4. He held the White Sox to 1 run on 2 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 0. With the win, the Mets have a record of 68-43.
Charlie Moore hit a 2-run double off Kevin Appier in the top of the fourth, which put the Mets in front, 2-0. In addition to the double, Moore had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"We've got a great group of guys," Moore said, "and we're having fun right now."
