Brewers Down Astros, 11-7
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers get after it.
The Milwaukee Brewers topped the Houston Astros, 11-7, at Miller County Field. Milwaukee center fielder Dale Murphy was a spark plug for the offense. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Tom Brewer earned the win to go to 14-5. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, with 4 walks and 1 strikeout in 5.1 innings of work. Jonathan Broxton, who is tied for 3rd in the AL in saves with 24, earned the save for Milwaukee.
Early in the game, Murphy had a 3-run home run for Milwaukee. It was his 31st home run of the season and put the Brewers on top, 3-0.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Murphy. "You've got to get results."
The first-place Brewers, at 74-38, now lead their division by 3½ games.
