Cardinals Need Extra Innings to Top White Sox, 15-11
Chicago (A) left fielder Derek Bell was sensational. He belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 6. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. St. Louis beat the White Sox, 15-11, in 14 innings. Nick Pivetta earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 5-6. St. Louis is now 54-56. Chicago (A) is 57-52.

St. Louis won the game in part because of Willie Horton. The first baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 12-11. For the game, Horton had 1 double and 1 home run in 6 at-bats.

"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Horton. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
