Guardians Win, 4-2, Versus Seattle
|
Cleveland picked up a win at Rogers Centre, bumping off the Seattle Mariners, 4-2. Pitcher Milt Gaston was a major reason the Guardians emerged victorious. Cleveland reliever Mike Jeffcoat picked up the win, raising his record to 5-3. Bobby Jenks was tagged with the loss. Camilo Doval was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 12 save opportunities.
Cleveland needed the clutch hitting of Luis Urias to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Guardians on top, 4-2. For the game, Urias had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Cleveland manager Kevin Conway said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
After today's action, Cleveland sits at 43-64; Seattle slips to 67-41.
