Floundering Guardians Lose 6th Straight
|
The Seattle Mariners had to overcome a fine effort from Cleveland pitcher John Candelaria to win, 3-2, at Rogers Centre. Candelaria went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. Rocky Coppinger wrapped it up, recording his 24th save. The slumping Guardians have lost 6 straight.
Don Mattingly, who is on pace for 106 RBI this season, helped out the Seattle cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 3 with a double.
"I like the groove we're in," said Mattingly.
