Yankees Drop Orioles, 3-2
|
The New York (A) Yankees trumped the Baltimore Orioles, 3-2, at Yankee Stadium. New York (A) third baseman Coot Veal was terrific. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Raul Alcantara notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 3-0. The save went to Yorman Bazardo, number 3 for him.
Had Veal not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Veal hit a run-scoring single. The Yankees took the lead, 3-2, and never looked back.
"We're playing like we're capable of," said New York (A) manager Brett Fogerson.
The 6th-place Yankees have won 4 straight games.
